I stalled and then got distracted by Christmas and various other manifestations of real life. The intention is to finish it next november, a National Half-Novel Writing Month, if you will. NaHaNoWriMo, which has a nicer rhythm to it, I think. However, I think that NaNoWriMo (in whatever fractional configuration) is more about quantity than quality. I wouldn't recommend trying to write something good in a month: William Golding wrote "The Inheritors" in 28 days (for a bet) and it is shockingly shit. If a Nobel Laureate can't muster quality, why should we mere mortals aspire to it? Take NaNoWriMo as your first attempt. Then write your masterpiece. I’m afraid I didn’t make it to 50,000 last year.
